Gobble Gobble!

On Thanksgiving Day, Highly Prized found an extra gear and ran down tough company in an Allowance race at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans.  This was his 4th win in 9 starts this year.  Late in his 4-year-old year he seems to be still improving.

Arlington Park Turf Win For Highly Prized!

At the height of the summer meet at Arlington Park, our four-year-old gelding Highly Prized ripped off another conquest.  Numerous trainers and would-be acquirers have expressed interest in his future in jump racing.  This latest effort may be the perfect capstone of his flat racing career and the beginning of something different and exciting for both Highly Prized and Signal Hill Farms!

Highly Prized Dazzles Again at Laurel Park

Coming off a win just about a month ago at the Fair Grounds, Highly Prized moved up in class to Allowance company. He went off as the favorite today at Laurel Park, and certainly benefited from an ideal trip navigated through a ten horse field by a very talented rider.  Tonight he goes to the Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland, where he will enjoy picturesque surroundings and some time to hang his head and eat some grass.

Highly Prized Scores on Second Race Back From His Lay-Off

From the official race chart at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans on March 13, 2017...HIGHLY PRIZED (GB) went two then three wide on the first turn, was rated just off the pace, moved up to make a bid with a half-mile to run, vied in the two path on the far turn, edged clear turning into the stretch, responded well when set down near the three-sixteenths, came under a right-handed whip outside the furlong marker and proved much the best under strong urging.

Il Faraone Does It Again !

From dead last to first.  Il Faraone got a great trip in the slop from veteran rider Jose Lezcano.  This two-year-old gelding has only begun to show what he can do and has already won twice in four starts since we claimed him at Gulfstream Park, FL.  Along with the friends who partnered with us, we are having a lot of fun with this one!

Two New Prospects Join The Stable

A new colt by Blame ("Simsbury") and a new filly by Shackleford ("Love Shack Baby") were acquired at the 2016 Keeneland Yearling sale.  Over the course of two weeks in September nearly 5,000 yearlings went through the auction ring.  It was quite a feat to land on these two very promising prospects.  Pictures are posted in the Stable page.  They are being schooled at a reigning farm in Lexington after which they will enjoy a leisurely turn-out for the winter before commencing spring training at the track.

Il Faraone Wins First Race Off The Claim !

In partnership with some friends at Gulfstream Park we claimed this two-year-old gelding on August 20, 2016.  He rewarded our confidence winning his first race in our colors!  He appears to come in second in the replay but the horse ahead of him was disqualified for inhibiting the progress of another horse earlier in the race, moving Il Faraone to the winners circle!
