Highly Prized

We acquired Highly Prized in 2015 as a 2-year-old at Tattersall's Horses-In-Training sale in Newmarket, England.  Well-bred by Juddmonte Farms, Highly Prized is sired by German world-champion Manduro out of a Danzig mare.  "HP" was initially trained by Lady Cecil for his first three starts in England.  In his first outing for us in the United States he won a Maiden Special Weight contest at Gulfstream Park in Florida.  He went on to get two seconds in competitive Allowance races, then seemed to need some time off.  We refreshed him with a turn-out over the summer of 2016.  He returned to training with Mike Stidham and quickly responded with two more wins in the first part of 2017.

Simsbury

This 2-year-old colt is sired by Blame out of a Forestry mare, a cross that has been shown to produce some stakes winners.  We acquired Simsbury at the 2016 Keeneland Yearling Sale.  His namesake is a charming New England town well-known to our stable, with horse traditions such as the Ethel Walker School.  At the reigning farm where he began his training he proved to be energetic and head strong, soon finding himself tethered to a donkey to take the starch out of him!  He has progressed nicely since then and is now at Delaware Park with Mike Stidham doing gate training and some short breezes.

Love Shack Baby

This two-year-old filly was an eye-catcher at the 2016 Keeneland Yearling sale.  Remarkable is her resemblance to Beldame, one of the greatest American thoroughbred fillies from the early 20th century.  No one is going to put this "Baby" in a corner, as she is by Shackleford out of a More Than Ready mare.  We cannot wait to see how she develops.  After some basic athletic development and breaking in Texas, she earned a summer turn-out in Kentucky, showing her delight in the adjacent video.  She is headed to Delaware Park to train with Mike Stidham in coming months.

Good Girl I Am

In the 1964 musical film My Fair Lady, Audrey Hepburn portrays Eliza Doolittle, a lower class Cockney flower girl taken under the tutelage of an arrogant phonetics professor Henry Higgins, who is determined that he can remake Eliza according to the vanities of high society.  In a moment of exasperation with her instruction, Eliza speaks up for herself, "I am a good girl, I am."  This filly was ignored at the Ocala Breeders' Sale because she didn't look the part but trainer Michelle Nihei had a chance to get on her back and take her for a turn at the Palm Meadows Training Center in Florida (closest in video to left). Michelle found that there was a lot more to this filly than meets the eye and felt that Signal Hill Farms might be the type of owner that would appreciate her potential.  We agreed and look forward to this debutante's coming-out party.

Il Faraone

In partnership with friends at Gulfstream Park, we claimed this well-bred gelding as a two-year-old.  He rewarded us with a win in his first run in our colors!.  Then he won again a few races later.  We gave him time off at a farm in Ocala FL for the winter.  He resumes training in the summer of 2017.
